1. You will receive a brief follow-up email
After the consultation, we will send you a brief follow-up email summarising the next step discussed.
The email may confirm:
- the main issue raised during the consultation;
- whether Life Australis may be able to assist;
- whether a separate professional service may be appropriate; or
- whether another type of professional assistance may be more suitable.
What the follow-up email is
The follow-up email provides general direction about the next step. Unless expressly stated otherwise, it is not a comprehensive eligibility assessment, detailed document review or formal written letter of migration advice.
The free initial consultation ends after the telephone call and brief follow-up email. If document review, a written assessment or other professional work is required, this will be offered as a separate service.
2. You may receive a proposed service scope and fee estimate
If Life Australis may be able to assist with further work, we may send you:
- a description of the proposed service;
- an estimate of professional fees;
- an estimate of the time likely to be required;
- information about possible government charges or other expenses;
- the OMARA Consumer Guide;
- an Agreement for Services and Fees; and
- payment instructions, where applicable.
Review the proposal carefully
The proposed service documents will explain what is included, what is not included and the responsibilities of each party.
Please read the documents carefully and ask questions about anything that is unclear before deciding whether to proceed.
3. You decide whether to continue
There is no obligation to engage Life Australis after the free consultation.
You may decide to:
- take no further action at this stage;
- consider the next step discussed;
- accept a proposed professional service;
- seek another professional opinion; or
- obtain assistance from another suitable service provider.
If you choose to proceed
If you would like to proceed, follow the acceptance instructions provided with the service documents.
4. Further work begins only after written confirmation
Receiving a service proposal or sending documents does not, by itself, mean that Life Australis has accepted responsibility for your matter.
Further professional work begins only after:
- the Agreement for Services and Fees has been formally signed.
Submitting documents securely
If the agreed service includes document review, we will explain what documents are required and how to submit them securely after the service arrangements have been confirmed.
Please do not send passports, visa records, relationship evidence or other sensitive documents through social media or an unconfirmed channel.
5. A consultation is not an appointment to manage your application
Completing a free initial consultation does not appoint Life Australis to:
- prepare or lodge an application;
- review supporting documents;
- communicate with the Department of Home Affairs;
- monitor your visa status;
- respond to Departmental correspondence;
- manage a visa expiry date; or
- take responsibility for any other deadline.
Responsibilities must be agreed in writing
These responsibilities apply only after the Agreement for Services and Fees has been formally signed.
If your visa is about to expire, you have received a refusal or cancellation notice, or another deadline is approaching, do not rely only on the next available appointment or an ordinary follow-up email. You may need to seek urgent professional assistance.
6. If Life Australis cannot assist
Life Australis may be unable to accept a matter where:
- the matter falls outside the services currently offered;
- specialist legal or other professional assistance is required;
- there is insufficient time to complete the work properly;
- a conflict of interest is identified; or
- another provider is better placed to handle the matter.
Possible referral
Where appropriate, the follow-up email may explain the type of professional assistance you should consider next. This does not guarantee that another provider will accept your matter.
A clear next step, without pressure
The purpose of the initial consultation and follow-up email is to help you understand what the next practical step may be.
You will have an opportunity to review any proposed service, fees and conditions before making a decision. You do not need to proceed unless you understand and are comfortable with the proposed arrangements.
No migration professional can guarantee the outcome of a visa application. Decisions are made by the relevant government authority based on the applicable law, policy, evidence and circumstances of each matter.
