How an Appointment-Based Migration Practice Works

Life Australis operates as an appointment-based migration practice. This means consultations and substantive telephone discussions are arranged in advance rather than conducted through unscheduled calls or walk-in enquiries.

The purpose is to give each matter focused attention, maintain clear professional boundaries and ensure that any service begins under an agreed process.

1. New clients book online

New clients can use the Life Australis website to choose an available consultation time.

When booking, you will be asked to provide basic information, including:

  • your name and contact details;
  • your preferred consultation language;
  • the general type of migration matter;
  • your current visa and expiry date, if applicable; and
  • the main question you would like to discuss.

Preliminary information only

Please provide accurate preliminary information so the consultation can focus on the right issue.

You do not need to submit supporting documents when booking a free initial consultation.

2. You receive confirmation and a reminder

After booking, you will receive confirmation of the appointment.

A reminder email will provide the consultation telephone number and any relevant appointment instructions.

Please check that the telephone number entered in your booking is correct. At the scheduled time, call the consultation number using the telephone number provided when making your booking.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please use the link in your booking confirmation at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time.

3. The initial consultation takes place by telephone

The free initial consultation is a focused 15-minute telephone conversation with a Registered Migration Agent.

During the consultation, you can briefly explain:

  • your current circumstances;
  • the main issue you would like to address;
  • any important visa dates;
  • relevant previous visa history; and
  • what you would like to understand or achieve.

Purpose and limits

The consultation may help identify whether Life Australis is likely to be able to assist and what the next practical step may be.

Because the consultation is brief, it does not include a comprehensive eligibility assessment, document review, application preparation or detailed written migration advice.

4. A brief follow-up email is provided

After the consultation, we will send you a brief follow-up email summarising the next step discussed.

The email may explain:

  • whether Life Australis may be able to assist;
  • whether a separate professional service may be appropriate;
  • whether another type of professional assistance should be considered; or
  • whether no further action is required at this stage.

End of the free consultation

The free initial consultation ends after the telephone call and brief follow-up email.

5. Further services require a formal engagement

If Life Australis may be able to provide further assistance, you may receive:

  • a description of the proposed service;
  • an estimate of professional fees;
  • information about possible government charges or other expenses;
  • the OMARA Consumer Guide.

You decide whether to proceed

You can review the proposed service and decide whether you would like to proceed. There is no obligation to continue after the free initial consultation.

Further professional work begins only after the required arrangements have been completed and Life Australis has confirmed the engagement in writing.

6. Documents are reviewed only after formal engagement

Supporting documents are not requested or reviewed as part of the 15-minute free initial consultation.

Document review will only begin after:

  • you have formally engaged Life Australis; and
  • you have signed the relevant Agreement for Services and Fees.

Use the confirmed submission method

Please do not send passports, visa records, relationship evidence or other sensitive documents through social media or an unconfirmed channel.

7. Communication follows the agreed process

For existing clients, communication is handled through the email address or other channel agreed for the matter.

Email is generally suitable for:

  • providing requested information and visa documents;
  • receiving written updates;
  • asking administrative questions;
  • confirming instructions; and
  • arranging a further appointment when a substantive discussion is needed.

Substantive telephone discussions

Substantive telephone discussions are scheduled so that the relevant file and information can be available during the conversation.

The consultation telephone number is primarily used for scheduled appointments and is not intended to operate as an unscheduled advice line.

8. Why use an appointment-based approach?

An appointment-based process gives each consultation dedicated time, keeps communication organised and helps clarify when a general enquiry has ended and a formal professional service has begun.

Important: Booking or completing a free initial consultation does not mean that Life Australis has accepted responsibility for your matter or any deadline. If your visa is about to expire, you have received a refusal or cancellation notice, or another deadline is approaching, you may need to seek urgent professional assistance.

English and Chinese consultations

Consultations are available in English and Chinese. You can select your preferred language when making your booking.
