Information we collect

We may collect your name, contact details, preferred language, booking and payment details, and preliminary information you choose to provide about an Australian visa, sponsor, family relationship, citizenship matter or migration history.

Migration matters can involve sensitive information. Please do not send passports, health records, police checks, financial records, relationship evidence or other sensitive documents by ordinary email or through a channel that Life Australis has not specifically approved for that purpose.

Why we collect and use information

We use personal information to arrange consultations, understand the type of matter, identify possible urgent deadlines, conduct preliminary conflict or risk checks, provide agreed services, manage payments and records, and communicate with you.

Booking information is used for preliminary assessment and administration. Providing information or booking a consultation does not, by itself, create an ongoing agent-client relationship or mean that Life Australis has accepted responsibility for a deadline.

Third-party services and overseas processing

Life Australis uses service providers including Microsoft Bookings, Microsoft Teams, email and website hosting. Those providers may process or store information in Australia, the United States or other countries in which they or their service providers operate, subject to their privacy terms and the configuration of the relevant service.

This website does not currently use a first-party analytics service. Microsoft Bookings and other external services may use cookies or similar technologies when you open or interact with them. Their own privacy notices apply to that activity.

Disclosure and professional confidentiality

We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed where reasonably necessary to provide an agreed service, where you authorise the disclosure, to professional or technology providers supporting the practice, or where disclosure is required or authorised by law or a professional obligation.

Information provided for migration assistance is handled subject to applicable confidentiality and professional obligations. A service agreement will provide further information where Life Australis accepts an ongoing matter.

Security, retention and deletion

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect personal information. No internet transmission or third-party platform can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably required for the booking, the agreed service, business administration, legal requirements and professional record-keeping obligations. When information is no longer required, reasonable steps are taken to delete it securely or de-identify it, subject to any obligation to retain a professional file.

Access, correction and privacy concerns

To request access to or correction of personal information held by Life Australis, contact the Registered Migration Agent through the same channel used for your booking, consultation or matter. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may refuse a request where permitted by law, in which case reasons will be provided where required.

If you have a concern about how your personal information has been handled, raise it with the Registered Migration Agent through that same communication channel and provide enough detail for the issue to be considered. Life Australis aims to provide a substantive response within 30 days. If the Privacy Act 1988 applies and the concern is not resolved, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

This policy may be updated when services, technology or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the current published version.
